Winter is Here!

In keeping with my yearly tradition of documenting the snow fall totals here in Bloomington I am presenting the first front yard and back yard shots of the year! Check HERE for a little bit explaining these shots.

We haven't really had a massive snowfall yet this year, one with about an inch of snow, the other with about 3 or 4 inches. I guess we are possibly in for a good storm this weekend, so I am totally looking forward to that! In keeping with the snow theme, the other day, Dad and I got the snowmobiles and trailer ready for the season. Mine started on the first pull, dad's after about 10 (I love having a primer!) and the trailer just needed air in the tires and grease in the bearings, I can't believe it, but all the lights worked still!

I also had the chance to help....well....umm....watch my brother and sister-in-law get their muscle car ready for the winter. They keeps it in the garage during the summer, but since the city he lives in doesn't have on street parking in the winter, he needed somewhere to store it for the winter. Luckily his boss has a cabin in northern Wisconsin that is heated and he offered to let them keep it there for the winter. So, he loaded it in his trailer and got it out there. It fit good in the trailer and they had a nice safe drive on the way out there. Their muscle car is a 1969 Pontiac GTO. I really don't know a whole lot about the car, but hope to soon!

The nice thing about having a brother that works in the HVAC industry is that he always has an eye open for things that would be nice to give to his favorite brother. Since I spend a lot of time in the garage working on things, he figured a garage heater would be a nice addition to my garage! He got me a garage heater out of a house that was upgrading their heating system. There isn't anything wrong with it other than being older. So hopefully we will get a chance to get it installed soon. The installation won't be an easy task, since we have to run a gas and electrical line from the other side of the house, not to mention hang some insulation and sheet rock, but I can't wait to have a nice warm garage to work in, and I'm sure Shannon will appreciate her car being warm in the morning!

We also replaced our Christmas tree this year. Our previous tree, my mom had given me when I bought my first house and was starting to show it's age. I think it would loose more needles every year than a real tree. Then again, it is at least 20 years old and had a very good life...as far as Christmas trees go! Our new tree went together very well and look nice decorated. Maeve enjoyed "plucking" the ornaments off of it for the first week it was up, but she pretty much ignores it now. However, we can't put presents under it, she still wants to open all of those up!

While we were shooting our Christmas Card picture at the Como Zoo Conservatory, we did end up spending a few hours at the zoo also! It was Maeve's first official trip to the zoo and she really enjoyed it. We didn't know how she was going to react, but she loved seeing the animals. She would walk around making the correct animal noises at each animal! I have such a smart baby!

That pretty much is what we have been up to over the last month or so. We are about 98% done with our Christmas shopping and are getting ready to leave for Texas to see Shannon's mom and step-dad! We are very excited to take another trip with Maeve! I will try and get another post done before with leave...hopefully of massive amounts of snow! I will sign off today with a very cute picture of Maeve and I, I call it "Kevlar Baby!"

I didn't realize you lived in such a rough area of Bloomington... what's this world come to when we have to put Kevlar on our kids to play in the backyard!
