To get this finished, it actually involved two days of final installation. A few days ago, Dad and I got all of the "window jamb extensions" installed and one set of the window casings installed. Due to a measuring/mathematical error on my part, we didn't have enough window casing to finish. This meant that he had to make a run to Home Depot, pick up some more casing then stain and polyurethane it. So after the first day this is how it looked:
Dad was nice enough to do the staining and polyurethaning for me since I had to work and he could do it in his workshop. Today, the final installation went very well. We just had to make a few cuts, sink a few nails and it was done! We had more than enough casing to finish and the color matched perfectly. I will never say that I am a trim carpenter by any means, but I think it turned out pretty well!
After we got the last of the casing installed, we used a wax touch up pen to fill the nail holes, cleaned up, and moved the furniture back. It was really nice seeing the furniture where it was supposed to go since it hasn't been in two years! The basement is far from finished, it still needs to be painted, I have to replace/reinstall some baseboards, and have some audio/video things that need to installed and purchased, but having this window done is a huge load off my shoulders.
Also, now that this is done I can officially start other projects! I made links to all the previous posts on this project for anyone that wanted to take a walk down memory lane!
